Water levels reach record high at Ballyhass
Well today its official the water has reached its highest ever levels.
It is fair to say that its been a pretty crazy few weeks weather wise and we havent escaped it here at Ballyhass. At the beginning of last week the small lake began to trickle into the main lake for the first time since the big freeze 4 or 5 years ago. Since then it has literally been rising 4 or 5 inches every day. Thats a big body of water to be rising that much every day! Just goes to show just how much waters have been falling. While other areas are effected by high tides we are purely rain fall.
But today we are sure that this is the highest its ever been in our tenure here. The two lakes have now leveled off and created one large lake. You can literally row a boat from one to other very easily.
Were not entirely sure how this is going to effect the fish stocks as this is new territory for us. Once the water levels go back down we will keep you up todate.
Activity wise, rock climbing and abseiling will be off limits for the next week or so. Again we will keep you up to date. With the forecast for next week it could potentially be a bit longer so keep an eye here and on our social media.
Stay safe everyone.
