Ireland's Largest Cable Wakeboarding Facility Opening March 2014.
If you haven't heard our biggest news yet check out all the details of Munster and Ireland's most unique tourist attraction
We are all really excited about our newest facility at Ballyhass Lakes. This has been a while in the making but came to fruition quite quickly towards the end of last season. We have installed two Sesitec System 2 wakeboarding cables in the last couple of weeks with help from our friends at Industry Wakeparks. Cable wakeboarding uses an overhead cable which pulls you over the surface of the lakes with a feel just like surfing or snowboarding but on water. This is the most accessible water sport for all ages and most of all fantastic fun. Irelands most unique sporting tourist attraction will be open March 2014 right here at the lakes.
The System 2.0 is essentially a straight-line cable system that is great for events or stand-alone rail parks. The System 2.0 allows for a continuous ride, it is the perfect way to learn to wakeboard and has close to a 100% record for teaching people to wakeboard. This is due to the incredible speed control the driver has and the upward pull of the cable. The system is perfect for all levels of riders and is a dream training tool. What really makes a wake park though is the obstacle setup underneath the cable. Think floating skate park! Ballyhass is starting big and will have several obstacles on both lines that will be ideal for beginners who are hitting an obstacle for the first time and amazing fun for an experienced rider at any level.
We see the wake boarding as a fantastic edition to the suite of quality activities already at Ballyhass. We are continually striving to expand our facility and create a outdoor experience centre that you will find hard pushed to be rivaled anywhere in the country.
The wakeboarding in particular will hopefully open a whole new market of individuals to Ballyhass that previously may not have been able to take advantage of the site. Up to last season we have required a minimum of six people to take part in our other activities. Wakeboarding is different, we will predominantly be targeting the local community within an hours drive who will be able to call down to the park multiple times in the week. Wakeboarding on a cable is the most addictive water sports we have ever tried. The progression level you will see in your riding is phenomenal and the fitness benefits are as good as any gym membership. If you have the time we can get you from standing on your board to hitting obstacles within one week! Trust us, you will love every minute of it.
Would you rather spend 30mins on a treadmill in a gym or 30mins on the water trying to nail a 360 off a kicker (ramp obstacle). For us its a no brainer.
Check out some of our first beginners that were on the system during the week down below.
We will be announcing our pricing structure and opening dates in the next ten days or so. Keep an eye on the wakepark website www.ballyhasswakepark.ie and our Facebook page here.
