Ballyhass Wakeboard & Kayaking Scholarships

The Ballyhass wakeboarding scholarship was started in 2015 when we took 10 local school students and put them on a free 16 week Learn to Wakeboard Course. Then in 2016 we launched our highly successful kayak scholarship. This is completely free for the students who come for a 3 hour class every Wednesday. Not only do they learn how to wakeboard or kayak, they learn the origins of the sport, get in touch with the sports top pros, learn about water safety, group management skills, social media and blogging skills not to mention spending more time outdoors!

BH Outdoor Project Wakeboard Scholarship 2018/19

Back for its fifth year, Our wakeboarding scholarship is now open for applications.
We are delighted to announce the opening of our 2017/18 BH Outdoor Project Wakeboarding Scholarship. This is the fourth year of our scholarship program and over 40 participants have already successfully gone through the program. This year we are on the hunt once again for 10 local young people to take part in 16 weeks of FREE wakeboarding.

We love this sport and we want to give back to the wake community and impart as much knowledge as possible to the young people of our local community. This course has a value of over €3000 and we are giving it away for free just to see how good a standard we can get the participants. Over the last four scholarship programs participants have gone on to win competitions all over Ireland and are now regular members of our club. We hope to add many more this year.

Throughout the scholarship the riders will get bags of time of the water, learn all about the history of the sport and the direction it's headed. Learn about social media and blogging techniques along with getting their own video edits by the end of the season. It is a fantastic opportunity for anybody interested in sport to carve out a niche for themselves in this country.

We are hoping to kick start the scholarship ASAP follow the application link below and submit it. All completed applications will get a free beginner lesson so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!! Please share and spread the word to anyone you think might be interested.

See you on the park soon.
Team Ballyhass.

BH Outdoor Project Kayak Scholarship 2018/19

We are delighted to announce the second course falling under the BH Outdoor Project Banner our Kayaking Scholarship

We are into our fifth year of scholarship programs.Going into its third year the kayak scholarship has seen 20 kayakers complete the course.  Kayaking has always been our no.1 activity at Ballyhass for the 1000's of people that come through each season. Everyone who comes off that water is thrilled and enthusiastic about the experience.

With the kayak scholarship we want to teach the participants where the sport came from the different aspects involved and then show them a clear path of how to pursue their passion long after the scholarship as ended.

Just like the wake scholarship the kayaking will take place over 16 weeks on Wednesday afternoon. The participants will learn a host of skills on our flat waters and then take what they have learnt to moving water in up to three trips off site that will take place during the year. There will be a focus on social media the appropriate use of online content along with the basic instructor skills needed across a whole range of sports. We aim to get these participants up to a level where they will be able to lead a group of their friends out on the water by the end of the scholarship. In fact that will be one of their last tasks on the scholarship next year!

We are hoping to kick start the scholarship ASAP follow the application link below and submit it. All completed applications will get a free beginner lesson so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!! Please share and spread the word to anyone you think might be interested.

Hopefully see you on the lakes soon,

Team Ballyhass
