Schools & Groups

 

The Activity Centre at Ballyhass is ideal  safe location for a group outing.  It offers over 20 different activities that can be suited to all age groups and purposes.  Nearly all of the activities involve teamwork and co operation and generally no prior skill is required to take part.  A day out is great for building team spirit, creating new friendships, and can be as challenging as the group needs. 

At Ballyhass all of the activities take place within the 36 acres site which is set well back from the public road.  There is no need to leave the site for any activity. In addition rock climbing and abseiling are conducted on natural limestone rock faces rather than artificial walls and all the water based activities are on our own spring water lakes.

The resident instructors at Ballyhass are very experienced in applying the activities to the needs of any group.  Session times can vary from a few hours to a full day or in the case of Summer camps a week of varied activites.  

A sample day could be for the group to arrive at 9.30am.  Large groups are split into groups of twelve participants. One group does water based activities (kayaking or raft building) and the other does land based activities (climbing, archery, abseiling, low ropes, aeroball, orienteering, team challenges). After lunch the groups switch activities so that all the group will experience approx four activities in any one day.

Supervision:

While on activities, the groups are fully under the supervision of our instructors.  Team leaders, Teachers, coaches etc are welcome to take part in the activities but are not obliged to do so. We do not require any minimum ratio of teachers:participants.  Group leaders are only required to be on site and supervise during lunch breaks.

What to bring

Swim suit, towel, spare pair of old shoes, spare change of clothes, packed lunch, personal medications if any, sun block cream and rain jacket. Please do not bring valuables.

Terms and Conditions

• All participants in activities do so voluntarily and at their own risk. Ballyhass Lakes will not be held responsible for damage or injuries to persons or loss of their possessions.
• Ballyhass Lakes Activity Centre is proud of it’s safety record and standards of instruction in all activities. Not following the guidance and instruction given by staff will be considered a breach of the terms and conditions and may result in the suspension of the activity for that group or individual. In this instance, no refund will be given.
• Signed release / consent forms are required to be completed by the group leader or partent or guardian of each participant under age.    
• Payment can be made by Visa, Mastercard, Laser and cheque (please make cheques payable to Ballyhass Lakes)
• A non refundable deposit of 50% of the total fee is required to secure a booking.
• Payment of balance must be received at least two weeks prior to commencement of your activities date.
